With the autumn months just around the corner, it's time for SLAM Outdoors to start thinking about our conditioning. We will be doing a lot of hiking, climbing and possibly some running. Some of you may ask, "when would you guys hike, climb or run?" Well, a few examples. We will have a strenuous hike ahead of us while hunting the "land fill road". We may be hunting from a tree stand. Therefore we would need to have the strength to climb up the tree. With football (aka Mike Vic) in tow, we always run routes at the Sunglow the night we arrive in Loa.
The secretary and I signed up for a triathlon! Yea, there were plenty of snickering from folks when we told them our plan. We didn't have the best gear, the best form or one of those metal things around our neck at the end. But we did have a desire. What better way to start getting into shape than to knock out 3 great exercise routines in one morning! We arose early on the morning of the race. Way earlier than we do when go fishing or hunting. Here is the proof.
Matt has the orange cap and I the green.
400 meter swim
12 mile bike
3.4 mile run
That is Matt throwing a "peace" sign
I am not going to lie to you and say it was fun and easy. It wasn't. But we finished! It goes to show you that SLAM Outdoors is a goal oriented establishment.
I still hurt, but when I wear the $12 t-shirt it makes me feel a little better.
ReplyDeleteGreat work guys!
ReplyDeleteI will have to count our little impromptu dunk ball game at the elementary I guess
