Doing The Best We Can With What We Have

Doing The Best We Can With What We Have

Mission Statement

With the expanded use of social media today, it is easy to look at others' lives and wish you were them. There are a handful of fortunate individuals who get to hunt and fish for a living. There are others who's circumstances allow them to spend more time in the outdoors than most. The truth is.. the majority of us are average people. Average men and women who do the best we can with what we have. For us, every hunt is public land. Every hunt is DIY. We will most likely never own a Yeti, our Igloos will have to do. Never look down range through the lens of a Swarovski or wear anything adorned with the Sitka logo. We will never have a hunting magazine, never be the stars of our own hunting show, become prostaff members, or receive free gear. We have a limited number of days off each year, and limited funds to spend. This does not however crush our spirit or curb our enthusiasm for the great outdoors. We will take every opportunity we get to enjoy the Streams, Lakes and Mountains.

We do not criticize those more fortunate than us. Our hope is to appeal to hunters just like us. Those with limited time, limited assets, limited resources, marginal gear, yet, 100% passion.

ITS GOOD TO BE A MAN

Technically, this will be number 7 in my week long tribute to manhood but in all honestly, it should probably be number 1.

Because I am a man, I get to be married to a woman. I love Nicole and she is the reason I get to do all the man things I have mentioned. She works hard at her 2 jobs and at home. She is an awesome mom, and LOVES being one. She gave me 2 pretty awesome daughters. One of them is a little fire ball and sure keeps us on our toes and the other is sweet and calm. Nicole thrives as a mom. She is so good with the kids, always stays calm and loves them no matter what. And... she has to be married to me, so right there she deserves some kind of patience award.

I'm glad I don't have to be a woman but still get all the benefits by being married to one. I am a pretty lucky guy and am glad I can get out and do man things like hunting and fishing without too much trouble from the wife. I love being the dad of a family. I love being the provider, and protector. I love when I get home from work and have 3 girls there waiting for me and I get to have that little 2 yr old run and jump into my arms. None of the things I have previously mentioned would be possible or worth it if I didn't have my family. I would give up all those things to keep them if it came down to it. I love them and am proud they are my wife and kids.

This post wouldn't be complete without recognizing that I have a pretty awesome family, extended family awesome brother in laws, in-laws and group of friends as well. I am surrounded by some pretty awesome people that make life great. Especially the SLAM Outdoors staff, their families and our loyal fan base.

IN CONCLUSION:

I love this commercial and think it pretty much puts a stamp on all 7 reasons why I love being a man.
